Monty09 in NOLA... Drinks with Eddie and lunch to learn about Tulane's new Master in Energy Management

Just got back from NOLA today and wanted to share two things with the board.

  1. Eddie can go round for round with anyone and at $3.50 a beer it was quite affordable. Thanks Eddie for the drinks and great choice in location. 100 beers on tap and happy hour from 11 pm - closing. Who does that? NOLA DOES THAT. After sending me on a wild goose chase after 6 phone calls Eddie gave me the correct directions. Overall, a fun evening over beers. And just for the record.... Eddie's stories are much better then mine.

  2. If you are in college and thinking about a masters degree/energy trading/happy hours from 11:30-close, Tulane is the place to go. The Masters of Energy Management is like nothing I have ever seen or heard of before. Tulane has a class room that cost over 10 million in computers and software for their trading classes. They are serious about placing people in NYC, Chicago and Houston in energy roles. I had lunch with Joe LeBlanc who runs the program and the program will feature a staff of ex energy professionals. I kind of want to go back to school. Their first class next fall will only have around 25 students and firms have already confirmed spots in their hiring for Master of Energy Management grads. I am going to see if I can get involved and help in some way in Houston or online. PM me if you have any questions and I can send over to Joe.

NOLA = New Orleans? I googled and its the first thing that came up. A more geographically relevant returned item was Nola, Italia, though im gonna guess its not that.

lol, fucking Canadians....

As a current Master of Finance student at Tulane I can attest to the energy trading classes. I took the intro class this semester with Joe and I will be taking his advanced class in the spring, we traded against live markets as part of our grade in the class. I have nothing but good things to say about the class and it is unlike any class I've taken in college. I don't know too much about the new Master's but I think it is basically a MSF on energy steroids.
