Morgan Stanley IBD NY Offer

Okay, so we all know, MS is great. They're on top of the league table; nailing all the big deals; beating GS; they're rocking this industry.....WHATEVER. I honestly do not understand their policy this year regarding the SA recruiting procedure.

A handful of people I know (myself included) had a superday for IBD NY. This was last year (December) and it was for the study abroads. Now, I know that they've had at least 3 more Superdays in NY in January. Not a single person I know heard back from the HR regarding their status.

A friend of mine incessantly called the HR for a status check, but no replies. Another friend of mine decided to haunt down the HR until he got hold of one of them, but all he heard back was that "they will let us know "hopefully" in the next week or two."

Is it just me & my circle of friends who aren't hearing back from them? I'm trying to make the best sense out of this... What can possibly be taking up so much time?? Has this been the case last year also? Any input would be helpful. I'm probably fretting over this b/c this is still my top choice firm. I'm holding off all other offers b/c this one firm that matters the most is keeping silent.

at some schools ocr starts late...my MS first round is on thu and so I think they are waiting until they are done with interviewing before extending offers to you guys (and hopefully me if I ever make it that far)

Yes, but you see, other firms have different OCR schedules too but they still give out offers on a rolling-basis, it seems. Is MS thinking of revolutionizing their recruiting process so that everyone hears back all at once?

Btw, how many SAs do they usually take in for IBD? Their NY office at least. Anyone know?

Yeah, I would assume it's due to lookin at other schools to make their decision. Although, you interviewed early because of study abroad, you are still competing with the non study abroad pool in january.

----------------------------------------------------------------- “It's all nonsense. Firms use titles to pander to the egos of the employees without giving away the store. If you are getting the money, who cares about the title?"

dew2229 > That actually makes me feel better (no sarcasm). If this means a rejection, I just wanted to be aware of it at least. Haha....maybe it's about time that I give up on MS and go work for this firm that actually wants me.

I def. think that the worst part about recruiting is not the interviews/prep, but the process of WAITING on sth that won't happen. lol

Although I still think it's weird...given that my school is a target (like...a REAL target B-school) and yet nobody from the Superday heard back.

I had three exploding offers sitting on my face and i contacted my MS school recruiting capital, and HR whom I had superdays with in mid December. No reply. None. Contrast that with other firms who let you know ASAP whether you received an offer or not, and even if it's a rejection, are immensely polite about it.

I don't mean to sound bitter, but just by their virtue of being cocky ass*oles, I refuse to work for that firm. The experience has definitely left a sour taste in my mouth. Oh and FYI, MS is sinking like a rock. Aside from Citi, MS had the worse FY in its history. The only good group left is M&A.
