Morgan Stanley IBD NY Offer
Okay, so we all know, MS is great. They're on top of the league table; nailing all the big deals; beating GS; they're rocking this industry.....WHATEVER. I honestly do not understand their policy this year regarding the SA recruiting procedure.
A handful of people I know (myself included) had a superday for IBD NY. This was last year (December) and it was for the study abroads. Now, I know that they've had at least 3 more Superdays in NY in January. Not a single person I know heard back from the HR regarding their status.
A friend of mine incessantly called the HR for a status check, but no replies. Another friend of mine decided to haunt down the HR until he got hold of one of them, but all he heard back was that "they will let us know "hopefully" in the next week or two."
Is it just me & my circle of friends who aren't hearing back from them? I'm trying to make the best sense out of this... What can possibly be taking up so much time?? Has this been the case last year also? Any input would be helpful. I'm probably fretting over this b/c this is still my top choice firm. I'm holding off all other offers b/c this one firm that matters the most is keeping silent.
at some schools ocr starts late...my MS first round is on thu and so I think they are waiting until they are done with interviewing before extending offers to you guys (and hopefully me if I ever make it that far)
morgan stanley never rejects anyone.. they just leave them hanging indefinitely (i have yet to hear back after my first round for SA last summer..) same situation with full time this year. i just assumed it was a rejection
Yes, but you see, other firms have different OCR schedules too but they still give out offers on a rolling-basis, it seems. Is MS thinking of revolutionizing their recruiting process so that everyone hears back all at once?
Btw, how many SAs do they usually take in for IBD? Their NY office at least. Anyone know?
Yeah, I would assume it's due to lookin at other schools to make their decision. Although, you interviewed early because of study abroad, you are still competing with the non study abroad pool in january.
dew2229 > That actually makes me feel better (no sarcasm). If this means a rejection, I just wanted to be aware of it at least. Haha....maybe it's about time that I give up on MS and go work for this firm that actually wants me.
I def. think that the worst part about recruiting is not the interviews/prep, but the process of WAITING on sth that won't happen. lol
Although I still think it's weird...given that my school is a target (like...a REAL target B-school) and yet nobody from the Superday heard back.
I was at that superday and have yet to hear back either. I wouldn't give up, I have yet to see someone on here claim a MS SA offer.
Yeah MS has been terrible at getting back. 4 of the kids at my school who went to the superday got (exploding) offers from other BBs and contacted recruiting multiple times and recruiting still wouldn't give them a conclusive answer
2 of the kids have already accepted their offers and the other two might follow suit
I had three exploding offers sitting on my face and i contacted my MS school recruiting capital, and HR whom I had superdays with in mid December. No reply. None. Contrast that with other firms who let you know ASAP whether you received an offer or not, and even if it's a rejection, are immensely polite about it.
I don't mean to sound bitter, but just by their virtue of being cocky ass*oles, I refuse to work for that firm. The experience has definitely left a sour taste in my mouth. Oh and FYI, MS is sinking like a rock. Aside from Citi, MS had the worse FY in its history. The only good group left is M&A.
yeah thats how MS rolls man....sorry to inform you.
My full time recruiting last semester was also very dragged out.....
hang in there
Sorry guys for the bad news, but offers at my school are out. 2 ppl landed IBD offers
I know GS has that reputation too, they prefer to wait until the last second.
