MORGAN STANLEY SOPHOMORE SUMMER INTERNSHIP 2016
Hi all,
Two purposes for this thread:
1) Reaching out to sophomores that have already accepted offers at MS (any division!). I'll be in institutional equities this summer, and I would love to meet a few people in my cohort before our first day on the job. I think this is also a good place to address questions about housing, timelines, logistics, etc.
2) Anyone with questions about the recruiting process (either my personal experience or in general) should feel free to post/send me a pm. Disclaimer: I will not give out recruiters' contact information or specific interview questions.
Hi! What is the process? Had first round interview but not sure how it went. For fixed income. Answered every question very well except got tripped up on one of the mind game ones. What do you think?
I had one phone interview and was notified about a superday about a week later. superday was 4 one on one interviews and I received an offer a few hours later.
Congratulations! You are going to work hard this summer but you will still have a blast. Make the most of it -- make conversation with people in the elevator, reach out to alum from your school working in other parts of the bank, and soak it all in. I had such a great time last summer; I developed really great relationships, learned a lot about finance, and grew so much. Loved my MS sophomore experience. :)
Thank you!! I'm really looking forward to this summer– I've heard a ton of great things about MS internships and my expectations are pretty high. If you don't mind my asking, what did you end up doing for housing (eg location, transportation, roommate(s), etc.)?
I subleased a room in Stuytown (14th/A). Took the L two stop to Union Square and transferred to the NQR which takes you right to 47/7th. I was able to find roommates through my greek-letter organization network -- there were a lot of us from different schools working in the city, so it wasn't too difficult to make a group. There's a lot of NYU/Parsons/FIT students subleasing their apartments in the summer, so there is no shortage of available options.
A lot of other interns at MS lived in NYU Housing, which is pretty reasonable as well.
Did you get a return offer after your sophomore summer? I'm a sophomore interning in GCM this summer with MS, and was wondering what the return offer process is like for sophomore interns.
Did anyone that applied to the Soph. IBD program and get a phone interview and not heard back? It's been 3 weeks so I'm thinking it's a lost cause at this point.
As someone who had a solid sophomore internship, I would encourage you all to not go back Junior summer or at least shop around as best you can. Keep contacts after the summer, offer or not, go somewhere else, and double your network/opportunities.
PM me for more details of you would like. And congrats!!
Hi guys, I applied around early November and when I logged into my portal it says my application is still being reviewed. Should I assume I'm not going to hear back from MS at this point?
