Most ethically questionable thing you've seen?

Obviously there's the standard investment banking bluster and showmanship but curious if folks here have ever seen something that clearly cross the line and what they did about it? One thing I've witnessed is folks at my PE firm berate lawyers / other service providers only to stiff them on their bill at the end, but that's probably tame compared to some of the shit people on here have seen.

I'm sreiously questioning my relationship with you.

Saw a large asset manager take a bribe from a company trying to win a proxy fight.

Deadline to vote was coming up and looking close, and XYZ firm had already cast its ballot for the activist (this can be changed on the online voting system up until deadline).

Company contacted XYZ firm to offer a large chunk of its pension AUM. No bake-off, just take the money please.

Vote flipped and company won contest by less than that amount. One of the big activists (think Icahn, but someone else) got screwed thanks to a bribe.

Not much could be done because compliance was in on it (ie compliance asked for a paper trail to be created so that they could point to a proper process if asked . . classic CYA).

I briefly thought about going the ole whistleblower route but didn’t trust the feds to take care of me.
