Most lucrative undergrad majors score the highest on GREs but politically incorrect
Median incomes by major: http://online.wsj.com/public/resources/documents/…

Politically Correct Majors: http://www.insidehighered.com/news/2008/07/25/pc
Definition of PC: "The views are the belief that gender gaps in math and science fields are largely due to discrimination; support for affirmative action; and belief that discrimination is a key cause of racial inequities in American society.”
The most PC: Psychology, Sociology, English, History, Elementary education
The least PC: Criminal justice, Economics, Marketing, Accounting, Computer science, Biology, Finance, Management information, Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering
Shame on You :)
P.S.: I am not implying anything, just sharing a couple of statistical data I had to evaluate for my final paper.
P.P.S.: check 90th percentile mid-career salaries...
nvm
The GRE stuff is a bit inaccurate. Those are GRE scores for people that apply for PHDs in those fields, not for people that got undergrads in those fields. They are not necessarily related at all.
Examnple: most undergrad econ programs in the U.S. are a joke. All those high scorers applying for phds likely majored in something else (like math).
Physics people are baller, no matter how you slice it.
Yeah, I've heard at my school an undergrad from the econ program wouldn't be qualified for the grad program..they usually pick math undergrads
Math majors rule the world.
If you define PC as that, then I'd hate to work with anyone who is PC, as they are clearly ignorant racists.
"The views are the belief that gender gaps in math and science fields are largely due to discrimination; support for affirmative action; and belief that discrimination is a key cause of racial inequities in American society."
So they define discrimination as the problem and cause of inequalities, and then they decide to throw in support for racism/inequality/AA
SO YOU'RE USING 3 DISTINCT AND UNRELATED SOURCES TO COMPARE SIMILAR DATA? I KNOW THAT YOU'LL NEVER GET INTO BANKING, BUT, EVEN OUTSIDE OF BANKING, COMMON SENSE SHOULD INFORM YOU OF THE LAW OF ONE SOURCE. MY MD WOULD CASTRATE YOU. NOT ONLY THAT, BUT YOUR SOURCES FOR THIS PAPER INCLUDE A COMPLETELY SUBJECTIVE STUDY AND AN IMAGE FROM BLOGGER... REALLY?! THANK YOU FOR AFFIRMING THE CALIBER OF "TOP" UC DAVIS KIDS. IF THIS IS WHAT PASSES FOR INTELLECTUAL RIGOR AT YOUR SCHOOL, I NOW UNDERSTAND WHY THERE ARE DIFFERENCES IN PRESTIGE BETWEEN QUALIFIED AND SUB-QUALIFIED INSTITUTIONS. GOOD LUCK AT SUNTRUST THIS SUMMER.
Shut up. The more you talk the dumber you sound.
Tone down the caps, add a rational thought, then try to repost.
trading analyst, have some respect...he is the "smartest guy ever" so he clearly knows what he is talking about.
I didnt find the OP particularly enlightening but no need to attack the guy...
PS The smartest guy ever would never work in banking. Get a life you clown.
How big of an advantage, if any, does an Economics major have over a B.S. in Business Administration in terms of job placement, salary etc for finance jobs?
I don't think it really matters. Once you've got a job whatever you majored in for undergrad wont make a difference.
