Most unorthodox exits
Hi,
I am currently still a student but I have a lot of internships. A lot of analysts talked about their exits options and even though most of them were traditional some of them seemed truly unconventional.
One analyst decided that he wanted to opened a restaurant
One associate decided that he wanted to star a travel blog.
But the most unorthodox was a first year analyst that wanted to become a fantasy author.
What were the most unique/unconventional exit stories or plans you have heard about?
I have many of such stories, the most common one is the restaurant. Many have family recipes or believe that everybody's gotta eat, right? Not that easy, but many actually go forward with this idea.
Another one is their personal startup idea, they have some concept of a tech solution or something and want to do it. They have never written a line of code, never worked in product management or have even seen a tech company from the inside. Most of these ideas just fizzle out due to lack of knowledge or funding.
Then, so many want to "run their own fund" one day or "create their own bank" sort of thing... for most: not going to happen, pal. All the challenger/neo banks are tech driven and not ex BB staff.
One guy I knew actually quit and took over his grandfather's automotive repair shop.. and managed to make a living. Pivoted from repairs to wraps, styling, tuning etc and it somehow took off.
