What are the most eye-catching/prestigious VC firms on a resume for an undergrad? Can you spin these to get IB?

If you want IB, why are you looking at VC?

excel is my canvas, and data is my paint - new york - brunch conesseiour - atheist - centrist - ENFP - TCU alum

Trying to get a "big name" on my resume if possible. Resume has some RE and IB experience but nothing recognizable.

Most people go from IB to VC. Anyways, just use Crunchbase to view VCs by deals done and that's a pretty good way to see the biggest VCs.

Off the top of my head...

Kleiner Perkins
Foundry Group//Feld

...where are you based and what stage are you looking at? A series A/B growth fund is very different than a preseed investor. Two totally different skill sets.

North East and any stage. Are Bessemer and Greylock still highly regarded?

Dec 25, 2018

Yes absolutely. Bessemer is one of the oldest in the game/best known. If you're looking for a resume builder, I would definitely stick to a growth/mature investor as the pre-seed stuff is way way way too qualitative to be overly useful in IB. IB has very little use in pre-seed.

Not to be a jerk, but it is very unlikely you get an internship/job at any of those places unless your dad is Marc Andreessen. Interns don't usually transfer to fulltime offers unless they are later stage growth. Would suggest emailing a few of these

Most people at name brand IB would kill to get a FT role at a good VC shop.... why do you want to do the reverse (out of curiosity)?

Dec 25, 2018

Fair enough. I was asking this question as I currently have no "big names" on my resume and was recommended to try by a few people. I figured I would cast as wide a net as possible and include VC firms as well.

Doing VC to get into IB is like dating Kim in hopes of banging Khloe

Bro VC is leagues better than IB in almost every regard. Not sure about the grand scheme of all VC's (particularly tech vc), but if you're thinking healthcare VC, top players include:
Third Rock
As well as the corporate vc's of Sanofi Genzyme, Pfizer, JnJ, Takeda, etc

These types of firms are incredibly difficult to get into and generally dont care too much about IB experience compared with direct industry experience. They would easily hire someone with an M.D. who worked at Norvartis R&D over a top healthcare investment banker from JPM (top healthcare bank). I do levfin but am very interested in healthcare vc and literally dream of these opportunities. Won't ever get them tho lmao.
