Move to new IB team at bank?

Currently in a corporate banking role at a large European (UBS/BNP/SG/CA) bank in NYC who has no IB M&A arm in my sector (FIG).

They are building a team in the next few months and taking an MD from Europe. There is an opportunity to join that team but is it worth it? Do you think there would be any deal flow/how long would it take to build business from zero etc?

Easy change of title and transition to IB at a brand name shop without even switching companies. You put in 6 months, rebrand as an IB Analyst, easily lateral to a more established place. This seems like career arbitrage. Having an outside IB offer now > switching to new internal IB team and leaving in 6-12 months > staying in Corp Banking > eating Cheetos in mom’s basement while playing PS5 and watching tv all day…. > Big 4.

Actually have an IB offer from a top 8 name but they would put me back as lack of IB experience. Wondering if internally transitioning and keeping higher title and then leaving from there after 6-12 months makes more sense than leaving now with the step back even though much better name etc?
