Moving from Big Tech to Consulting
As the title suggests, do you think it is possible to move from the Business Development / Market Strategy team of a big tech company to management consulting (e.g. Google / Amazon / Facebook)? I would imagine consulting firms are interested in tech experience, and that go-to-market strategies and BD work would be somewhat transferable. If not, what are some common exit opportunities?
Isn't that kind of role in big tech the exit opportunity, not the other way around?
We do have some folks from big tech at my firm, but the reverse is far more common. How much do you make in a role like that, and what're the hours like?
With 2-2.5 YoE out of UG folks here make 200k+ TC. Straight out of UG, it's closer to just 110k. We work 65-75 hrs/week.
To clarify a role in big tech out of college as a graduate. Haven't started yet, but I assume are decent, 40-50 hours, the pay is below that of consulting. What are the backgrounds of the consultants from big tech? Were they also BD?
