Moving from PE to Product Management

Guys

I am an associate in a leading global growth equity firm. Before my current job, I worked as an analyst at a major buyout fund (one of world's biggest, probably the biggest). Despite having spent 5 years in private equity and that too at big names, I feel a bit depressed about the prospect of adding almost no real value to this world as a PE guy. While the money is great, I just feel that it can't be my only motivation to continue this grind and I need to do something more productive.

Are there any folks out there who have felt the same and tried moving out of PE to more creative or may be more application driven jobs like a PM at a Silicon Valley tech firm? I have an undergrad degree in computer science but don't have an MBA (it's probably a bit late to get one with 8 years of overall work experience and I have already been dinged twice by H/S/W), besides I live in India. Anybody with any pointers on how I can think about my career going forward?
