Moving to Chicago

My firm is sending us back to the office and I’ve got to move to Chicago in the next few months. Where do young-ish (late 20s) single people live in Chicago? Multiple price points would be good to see. Thanks in advance!

Hey dude, moved to Chicago last year from NYC, so not too familiar with local hot spots as I could be, but can give you some spots I was looking at.

I ended up choosing the South Loop. Close proximity to the park/lake front, short commute to work, and easy access for groceries/CTA stations (a lot of the newer buildings here are a short walk to the Roosevelt station which has all the lines running through it). West Loop is also pretty good I hear, as well as Gold Coast and River North.

Here are some of the spots I had saved:

- NEMA: have some friends in this building, gets super $$$, but nicest facilities (especially the gym) and can have amazing views

- The Paragon

- Coeval

- 369 Grand

- MILA

- Marlowe

- Wolf Point East/West

I would only recommend this if you want the experience of living in a traditional big luxury building. Chicago's downtown "The Loop" is different vs most major downtowns in that it's not where most of the bars/restaurants/entertainment is at. If you want something that's more of a neighborhood with restaurants/etc, I'd probably suggest something more on the lines of Lincoln Park, Old Town, Wicker Park, or Fulton Market (last one is more of a trendy/foodie type place)

I’m in my mid-to-late-twenties in Chicago. I would recommend Near North, West Loop or Fulton Market. Walking commute to the Loop (assuming you work there), and close proximity to restaurants, bars and nightlife. A few building recs below - all are “luxury rental” buildings, but you can also find a place in a condo-owned building that is getting rented out (will be cheaper but less amenities).

West Loop or Fulton Market:

-milieu

-the Parker

-Porte

-eleven23 Randolph

Near North:

-369 grand

-3Eleven

-Hubbard221

-640 north wells

-Oakwood

-Wolf Point East

River North / Gold Coast would be my recommendations. I lived in Gold Coast for a while and was able to easily walk to work which was super nice pre covid. Lincoln Park/Lakeview are great neighborhoods too, but skew on the younger side and you wouldn't be able to walk to work. West Loop could be a potential option too.
