Moving to ER

Hi,

I just graduated from a non-target and got accepted to a finance product control role. From what I've seen/heard PC is not the most glamorous and its good to get out of it before you get stuck there for a long time. My goal is to ultimately get into ER (hopefully earlier more than later) and I just accepted the PC role in order not to have a gap in my resume. Later this year/early next year I plan to start applying for ER roles, and to help me with that I will be registering for the CFA Level I this year. Is there any other advice to help with getting into ER with a short background in finance product control? I'd appreciate any help as I don't want to be stuck in PC forever!
