MS in Finance USA with low GPA and high GMAT/GRE
Hello everyone,
I am 26 years old and from Armenia and I am interested in applying to US universities to study Master of Science in Finance or MBA with concentration in Finance. I have Bachelors degree in Social Work (with low GPA) and I studied MA in Economics in Georgia (country). I had several years of work experience not related to my field (statistician, Shop Administrator, Data Entry Specialist) also I had internship at Ministry of Finance and currently I am working as an accountant in international company (I passed accounting trainings before). My MA program was in English and we had mostly European or American lecturers. However I had low GPA 2.5 there which is not sufficient for graduation as for that you need 2.67 (B-). At this moment I am retaking courses from my university in order to satisfy the requirement of GPA minimum for graduation.
I have two questions connected to this topic:
1) If I should graduate first from this one, will it be possible at all to get admitted (in general with such profile)?
2) Or should I wait until I will receive my MA diploma and if I will try hard on GMAT/GRE will this be enough to get admitted to tier 2 university like Buffalo SUNY, City University of New Jersey or Bentley University.
In the end I want to add that I am very interested and enthusiastic about Finance and my problem with studies is connected mostly to the fact that I understood the necessity of study a bit late (probably just when I started to study at MA), and for this fact I had lack of descent background in Math which didn't let me have a good GPA in MA. Getting education in the US is not just goal by itself for me (even though its my dream since a lot of years) but also the way to stay there for some years after graduation with OPT or maybe work visa, and have work experience in the field that I desire and also life experience.
