MSF/MBA Route

Hey all - I have a question and was just looking to gather some opinions on it. I am currently thinking about pursuing a MSF, but also going back to obtain a MBA later on. Here's my quick story: Graduated with around a 3.3 GPA from a large state school in the Southeast (Regional Presence). Worked for a year in the asset based lending field (consulting style work) for a no name firm. Transitioned to F500 finance for a manufacturing company.

My question is - should I try and pursue a MSF to re-brand myself to have better MBA opportunities down the road. Or do I stick it out and work for a while where I am at? Just trying to figure out what path I should take and what my target schools should be.

  • Thanks

You could go to Vanderbilt and end up not needing an MBA later on down the road. I used to think most MSF's would go on to do an MBA, but after doing this for 5-6 years, those who do an MBA are in the minority. Especially if you do your masters at a T30 schools (Vanderbilt, WUSTL, UTA, UVA, etc).
