MSIM is huge...it depends on what division you'll be in, and what your role would be.
agree with xqtrack elaboration?
MSIM fixed income, credit analyst.
what do you guys think of MS infrastructure fund?
How about an analyst in institutional sales?
I have a friend who's a first year analyst in MSIM...s/he hates her job and basically says it's a daily bloodbath. The 08 analyst class was just told last week they will not be recieving their 10k raise and bonus numbers will be meager.
I'm sure it is different in good times, but not sure if I'd elect to go into such a market-driven, sales area of MS in this market.
the exit opps would probably be good depending on the market. I am sure you could interview with plenty of credit hedge funds ie goldentree, mariner, bluemountain (shrinking) etc post stint.. the name brand will be fine if that is what you are looking for. did u get an offer?
FI credit analyst - isn't that gig in conshohoken, PA? that'd suck
credit is with ops, finance and other "back/middle" positions in PA
the credit position is in new york. equities and alternative investment partners of MSIM is in conshohocken. FI MSIM is in new york
in ny fi msim how big is the group, do u work there
no, but i know people who had final round interviews there
how close are the associate level analysts to the portfolio management process? is it very structured w/ like a PM committee ok'ing or denying ideas or does ea team get its own book
not entirely sure but from what i heard, it didn't seem like there was any formal committee ok'ing or denying ideas
do u work in investment management?
accepted an offer in trading at a different bb bank. how about you?
at another bb bank
feel free to express an opinion in my thread

Hello all...
Just found out that I will get a chance to interview with MS for a spot in the Summer Analyst program with the Investment Management group. There are three different groups within the position: investments, risk, and sales and marketing. Anyone familiar with the program or just general thoughts on their investment management group?
Thanks
me too... see ya there haha
Hi all, i just applied any tips on the telephone interview or AC? Cheers.

Hi,
Does anyone know anything about Morgan Stanley Investment Management's performance how it compares against JPM IM/GSAM or even BlackRock/Fidelity (especially at an analyst level)?
I'd be particularly interested in views on the London office but seeing as how few people mention it on WSO in general, I'm guessing I won't get many responses!
Thanks.
GSAM generally view their main competition as JPM and BlackRock. Morgan Stanley are certainly a big shop in the area, but the aforementioned three are more worried about each other. Having said this, AM is being given emphasis at all of the BB firms as they look to diversify away from IB into areas that draw the ire of regulators less, and MS are definitely a good operation to join at Analyst level.

How good are they? Are they a better opportunity than a traditional PE house?
