Munis vs Tsys vs TIPS
Which of these is the best for a career in AM/ Trading in fixed income space? i.e. which would provide the most transferable skill set to other (fixed income) products- in the US and abroad? Appreciate all insights and views. Thanks!
Also, I understand that munis are not as macro as tsys and tips, but are they even considered a macro product?
Trading any of them would give you skills that you could use to move around the fixed income space with maybe the exception of high yield/distressed credit which is more fundamental valuation and gets a lot of LevFin bankers and research people. Obviously the UST and tips space would give you the most transferable skill set and is the most macro, but muni's isn't a death sentence either. And no, Muni's is not a macro product.
