My situation (advice needed)

Greetings,

I'm looking for some advice from anyone with two cents. I graduated from Coastal Carolina University in 2009 with my BSBA with a complete junk gpa of 2.7 (Partying and just a general lack of interest/drive). Due to my extremely low gpa and lack of an internship during undergrad, I decided to enroll at Webster University which operates nearby. Webster's MBA program with an emphasis in finance is ACBSP accredited and has provided me with some good contacts and a great educational experience (Will be done in Fall 2011, part time mba with 3.8 currently). EDIT: I could also complete the MSF which may look more credible for entry level positions. I also own and operate a local small business.

Should I do an internship this summer, requiring me to push back my graduation till the winter? The other option is to wait until completion of the program and then intern. I feel like I thoroughly screwed myself by tanking in my undergrad. ALL OPINIONS WELCOMED.

once again: undergrad BSBA (management) ; MBA emphasis finance or MSF

Thank you!

I'm confused here, it seems like the only factor being considered is the brand recognition of a top 20 business school. Will I be unable to pursue a career in finance? If you can't break down the scenario due to my branding, try using any non target school as a frame of reference. Thank you.

Maybe I should rephrase the question: Do I have any options or outs here? How would you handle this situation (24, BSBA (non target) and MSF or MBA (non target), currently own and operate a local small business). I am really looking to pursue a career change while I am still able to fit in demographically with other interns etc. Am I royally screwed?

-At 24 you are not screwed. Honestly, you sound like you know what you want and sound willing to go for it, which is going to be your biggest advantage. -You are going to have to use 'unconventional' tactics for getting into whichever field you seek -remember getting in is 1/2 the battle sometimes. you can always lateral jobs/companies or seek out a headhunter to help place you *** As for an internship- I would say yes because from what I have heard- internships are A LOT easier to lock up for students than for people who just graduated. This will also allow you to get the appropriate resume building experience!

-I still think that if you are having trouble you could always enroll in a good masters of accounting program and go into the Big 4- which again would open doors.

Hence my undergrad gpa ;) Our baseball team is a perennial top 20 team and our Marine Bio program is one of the best in the country. Only about 10,000 students so are relatively unknown.
