My stats for canadian universities
hello guys i am applying soon for a masters degree in economics at these canadian universities (Mcgill,Uoft, UBC, Western University, Queens University and University of Calgary).
Gpa: CGPA 3.3 however they emphasize on the last 2 years and my gpa in those was 3.7 thats what they said on the admission requirements ( i was slacking in my first year.)
GRE: 318
Decent Extracurriculars and experiences.
Thoughts on getting accepted?
Hi financialwisdom, no, I never sleep and so I can respond to any lonely threads (like this one) at all hours of the night. Impressive, I know ;-)
More suggestions...
Hope that helps.
I'd be curious your quant score on GRE? Looks like 318 converts to roughly a 620 on GMAT? In my research, not a whole lot of averages floating around but that is a decent score and paired with a nice quant could be better. In hearing from friends, I don't think this'd make the cut at U of T. I'm not familiar with UBC either but the others seem alright. Some sorts of Honours Econ or otherwise in your extracurriculars would be awesome and an easy sell IMO.
thanks a lot for the reply, my gre quantitative was 165, did so much better than the verbal section, i saw on ubc website that the acceptance rate is 30% idk if uoft is the same or lower, is there a website or something that can be useful for me to know my chances ? but im confident i can land an offer from the other universities I mentioned expect from mcgill since its also competitive.
the thing is that on uoft website and also every university i mentioned on the admission requirements they always emphasize on the last or last 2 years of your degree can u confirm thats actually true or not since u have friends, because if thats the case my gpa in the last two years has been 3.7 and a good gre score doesnt it increase my chances?
I've got no clue unfortunately in that regard. While I am sure a human reading your application may take kindly in this regard, a computer may not and I'm really not sure how they do the GPA. Great that your quant is a bit higher.
If you want other, well informed resources try GMATClub perhaps, message people on threads for the respective school or try to find more people on Linkedin.
