N00b seeking help on career choices
I recently graduated and got a full-time offer to do corporate accounting for a Fortune 500 company. That was the best I could do from my school. Hell, no BB or MM firms even posted for IBD positions. The 2 BB's that came on-campus interviewed for back office shit, something called "financial controls group". What can I do to make the inconceivable jump to IBD or others in the future?
The reason why I'm asking is because though I believe corporate accounting/finance is a stable career path with relative work-life balance, I want to break into IBD, hedge funds, Asset Management, or private equity. Not for the prestige, but because these fields seem more exciting and they truly do impact our current economy/society. The money also makes it attractive but I have a genuine interest in this type of work.
Any advice? If you were put in my position, what plan would you lay out for the foreseeable future?

Graduated top 10% of class, summa cum laude from non-target, 0 work experience in IB, hedge funds, or PE.
Sorry, not really relevant (others can probably answer your broad question), but summa is top 10% at your school? I thought it's supposed to be like top 3% or even 1%
Well, top 1% is also part of the top 10%.
How would one even know the %? The only reason why I have a rough idea is because I was invited to be in an honors society which says they choose only those in the top 5 or 10%. I am 0.02 away from Summa as of right now. (non-target)
The summa should help you. Spend 3 years where you are then try to get into a top b school. If you get a good gmat, should be feasible.
CashCow, appreciate the advice. I was thinking B-school might be my best bet.
