NBA playoff predictions

Who do you guys have coming out of the west/east?

Personally I think the Suns will beat whoever wins the Jazz/Clippers series in 6, max 7 (assuming they’re healthy)

Nets look shaky without Kyrie so i’ll say Bucks in 7. Philly > Milwaukee in 6/7 tho

Compelled to take the suns > any east team besides a healthy brooklyn

Let’s hear your predictions

Think BK will overcome MIL somehow. Either Kyrie or Harden will come back next game. BK will also beat Philly as long as they have 2 of the 3 stars. I think BK is better off with Harden + KD, IMO. Suns will get to finals. So that’s Suns vs Nets in Finals. I really want Phoenix to win. If the Nets win, this feels like another cheap ring by KD.

I agree that Nets will beat both bucks/76ers if they have at least 2 of their stars & also agree that Harden/KD is a better tandem than Kyrie/KD, but i’d still pick the Nets with the latter. Unfortunately, Kyrie’s status isn’t promising for a return this series and who knows with Harden.

KD beating the bucks by himself will do wonders for his legacy but will subsequently contribute to the ‘needs a super team’ narrative if he loses, IMO. He needs to be efficient and at his best

Can’t be mad if the suns win tbh

If the best team wins, it will be the Sixers.  They have superior defense and a very deep bench.  And the offense is also good. Their shooting guard Danny is out for the next 3 weeks and they can replace him with 3 different guys. Each of them is probably better than a 34 year old Green.

Not sure about who is going to come out of the West.  It could be any of the teams remaining teams.  I kind of want to see Utah make it so Embiid can throw Gobert around like a rag doll.

Agree on the Danny green point & would also like to see Gobert get destroyed (pause), but am worried about two things regarding the sixers if they can truly make a deep run (finals): Embiid’s health and Simmons’ offensive consistency.

Embiid is playing through a torn meniscus, and although he doesn’t seem to be slowed down, a likely lengthy ECF and still a possible 6/7 game series with Atlanta could leave him in bad shape for a gruelling finals. On the Simmons front, his role is directly impacted by Embiid’s health. If Embiid misses games, Simmons needs to be offensively aggressive (something he doesn’t to be with Embiid playing) and I think that question mark is a cause of concern. Even with Embiid in the lineup, Simmons can’t afford to have games where he shoots 5-6 shots and refuses to attack if they want to beat real teams (sorry WSH/ATL).

I think a fully healthy Nets team is unstoppable (in the East at the very least) but it seems like they’re at 1, maybe 2 stars max for likely until the finals. If the bucks beat the Nets, I can see philly giving whoever makes it out of the west a real run. They truly are a championship team (on paper + regular season performance)

Simmons stays in his lane which is fine with me unlike Giannis.  Giannis has great stats but his shooting sucks.  Dude has tried like 35 3 pointers in the playoffs and hit like 10%.  He is also not much better from mid range.  If Simmons was doing the same for the Sixers,  fans would be demanding a trade.  Some Sixer fans only focus on his points but ignore that he is a stellar defender,  an excellent passer and a good rebounder.  The Sixers other four guys on the floor can score, especially now that Green is hurt. Who do you want shooting Simmons or Embiid? who is basically unstoppable from anywhere on the floor.  He is like a Shaq who can shoot.  He is definitely the most valuable player in the league despite not winning the award.  The dude must weigh 300 pounds.  When he is driving, defenders tend to make business decisions.

Also Tobias Harris is playing like an All Star

Tobias Harris is very underrated.  He has about the same career stats as Paul George who has been an all star 7 times.  Harris has never been an all star.  Harris can do everything pretty well and he has been very efficient while doing it

Suns and Milwaukee will have had the toughest road to the Finals so far if it turns out that way. If Nets are healthy, win this series, and remain healthy they will easily represent the East.

I don't like the 6ixers' system at all. It's too much dribbling, too much individual/one pass play but they only have one good shot creator. They have had the easiest path so far facing the Wiz and now this young Hawks team. I think whoever wins Bucks/Nets wins that series against PHI .

The Suns will be facing another tough opponent in the Jazz/Clippers. But, Suns are pretty solid defensively and they have a great cast around the main duo of Paul/Booker. I think Jazz are a better matchup for the Suns than Clippers since Clippers have so many wing defenders. If PG can stay active, Clippers could come away with the series, but I have a feeling they'll go down 3-1, and then the odds will be against them.

Even though the Clippers do everything to make a fan not believe in them, I actually think they will win this series (especially if they win game 4). At first, I didn’t know why I believe in them over a decently strong 1 seed like the Jazz, but when PG plays his best they have 2 guys who can genuinely play at a top 5 level (not saying PG is a top 5 player). Two 2-way versatile shooters + a somehow prime Reggie Jackson + vets is working and it for some reason feels like the Clippers’ series to lose (even tho it’s not).

Interesting point about Philly, they over dribble when Simmons is off the floor imo and are generally not a good team when he rests. He’s the engine of that team and Embiid is the driver, so we’ll see how that turns out

Also you’re spot on with the Bucks having the hardest route (by far)

I said the same exact thing about Clippers/Jazz when the series started. It's theirs to lose. They are not a great team but they have two top wing players, one of which is a sure future Hall of Famer. The other one is Paul George. They don't have enough offensive players for him to not be playing the way he should be.

And I agree about Philly. That's why I don't like them. When they go up against better/more well-rounded teams, it will be a problem for everyone not named Embiid.

Everyone in the Sixers system has a role and each player excels at the role.  Some players excel at more than one one.  No, they don't have a Damian Lilliard but they do not need him.  When the opposing team is doubling and tripling up on Embiid someone is going to be open, which is exactly what happened in the last game and Embiid  found them. Curry has the second highest. 3s percentage in NBA history.  He must be doing something right.  Harris can do about anything on the floor.   If the opposing team is not ganging up on Embiid, he is going to drop 40.  There was a crazy stat earlier this year with Embiid.  At one point, his 40 point, 10 rebounds games were higher than the rest of the league combined.

Tobias Harris has gotten better doing more than just being a spot up shooter. But we'll see if it's real enough to sustain itself when they play the Bucks/Nets. And I like the other Curry but he's been super sus over his career. I get that he's 30/31 now. He probably understand much better the time it is, but it hasn't been proven, again.

I think Hawks can even still give PHI hell once they're able to get downhill again. But either way, Bucks are a much different team than the Hawks/Wiz and I look at Nets as just being too much firepower without an equal match on the other side that I don't think PHI possesses.
