Need Advice regarding career change
Hey guys,
I recently started a FMP program with a F100 (Not GE, or J&J) and am really enjoying my current rotation within a Strategy group. I am getting relevant modeling experience regarding small acquisition and investments that my SBU needs. Plus, my role is highly analytical in terms of benchmarking and formulating the strategy for the firm moving forward.
A few days ago I met with the head of our M&A group, and he basically specified that it would be impossible to rotate through his group as they specifically look for CDP and recent MBA grads.
My dilemma: Now that I know that a rotation/role within M&A is highly unlikely, which is truly my real passion, I am thinking about entering the upcoming FT recruiting season for IBD.
My question: Should I stick it out in this 2 year program and then try to switch careers? Or should I take my current experience in Strategy, update my resume and try FT recruiting for IBD? Can I even apply to Analyst position as I graduated in May 2012?
