Hi,

I'm currently a junior at a top tier school. I currently have offers for an investment banking summer analyst position at the following banks: credit suisse, ubs, deutsche bank and merrill (BoA). I also have interviews lined up with JPM and Morgan Stanley. I've turned down Citi and RBS. I'm waiting to hear from Perella. If I get Morgan Stanley or Perella, I'll go with either of those. As for the rest... I need some help. I'm leaning towards credit suisse, but i also have a strong interest in ubs. Please let me know your thoughts

CS over UBS. The Swiss government has UBS by the balls, while CS didn't take any bailout money. I would also take CS over Deutsche, but that's just my preference.

I'd avoid Merrill/BofA at all costs. They're screwing people with reckless abandon these days.

JPM is likely solid.

As the above poster said, the Swiss government has got UBS by the short and curlies. CS and DB each seem to have been hit hard, but I haven't heard of the mass layoffs that seem to be the norm at most banks these days...

Parella is a great shop, but be aware that M&A is basically not happening right now, and nobody's really sure when it's coming back...

I'd say your only clear choice is to avoid Merrill/BofA.

Ranking the banks

JPM
Citi
GS/MS
(bigger drop)
DB
CS
UBS

wouldn't touch merrill or bofa

Reason I'm ranking DB/CS/UBS lower is because they have not been transparent with whats going on in the firm, probably because they are foreign banks. I know first years at DB, CS, and UBS who are laid off

Are you an idiot? Citi over GS/MS...? Citi over anything really?

agreed

I don't think Citi's going anywhere it seems like they are holding on their ib but spinning off/selling off the rest. GS and MS just seems to have so many layoffs with MS paying analysts to leave and GS moving ibd analysts to bo

What do others think?

Congratulations on getting all these offers. You must be doing something right.

Prob best stay clear of BoAM, as for the others, have you considered which of the people you liked the most and would enjoy working at?
