Need help for a Pre-MBA internship interview
I am starting my MBA this Fall at a Top 10 business school and strongly interested in pursuing a career in investment banking (hopefully a top M&A product group). Before starting my program, I wanted to do a pre-MBA and, hence, reached out to few MDs/VPs at MMs and Boutiques banks in their satellite office (think SF/LA/Hou/Chi).
One MD I had met couple years ago at MBA info session replied back saying that my head of recruiting (also a MD) will reach out to you. The head of recruiting emailed me saying that please call me in the office end of this week.
My questions are:
1) Should I treat this as an interview? or is he just going to discuss what he can offer me this summer. I told them that I am open for an unpaid internship.
2) How valuable a pre-mba internship is? My background is in public accounting, so feel that it is somewhat relevant to investment banking (might be over valuing it). Do recruiters like pre-MBA internships?
Yes. Every interaction you have with someone with the ability to hire you should be treated as an interview. It might be helpful to post your questions here in the job search forum as it will get more hits.
