Networking at Your Firm Before Starting?
Is it generally advised to network / chat with some of the professionals at the firm you're about to join, in the months prior to joining? I've heard it can help you get on more interesting deals and establish a better relationship with the senior team, but not sure if this is standard or not.
I think if you're joining FT, reaching out to a select few people is a nice idea provided that you come across competent and don't waste their time. On the other hand, if you're starting as an intern, I don't think it is worth it, you'll likely come across as pushy and annoying.
Mostly it depends on your confidence in yourself and whether you can carry yourself well and make good impressions while reaching out. If you think you can, go for it! Good luck!
Yeah it's FT for me, also a smaller team so it might be a good idea.
Any conversation topics you'd recommend? Don't wanna talk about COVID and the weather for 30 mins lol
