NETWORKING: Did I blow this one off?
I was networking with a school alumnus of mine yesterday via email and I feel that I blew it off by being too casual with my response. (This wasn't the initial email, it was a response to his email.)He is an MD at a BB. He advised me with career options. Perfect. Then I responded, thanking him for his time and response and asked him if he could provide some time to meet in person. In the beginning, I was very formal and "professional" with my wording, but for some reason towards the end I felt the need to be more direct and casual if you will. So I said something like "I will travel to your office any where any time with two cups of coffee in my hands to speak with you", something along those lines. Did I fuck up? I did want to be a bit more direct and aggressive, which leaves me thinking, was I way too informal? Did I offend him in any way? He hasn't responded for 24 hours and I'm still waiting.
What do you guys think?
24 hours...You realize these people have jobs and lives right? You are far from their #1 priority so I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't respond right away. I don't think what you said was too casual, I mean there has to be some informality to it all.
Dude you are fine...he is a human and that isn't that informal...just don't call him dude, lead off wiht "Hey", etc.
it's ok, after one week, follow up with him.
Weird/Interesting response but you didn't mess anything up ha.
