Networking from abroad

Hey all,

I'm a current sophomore at a uni in continental Europe and will be attending a US target school this coming spring semester as an exchange student. Since I'll be there for the recruiting season, I'm interested in trying my luck at securing a SA 2020 position (dual citizen, no need for visa). I think my background is decent enough to at least have a shot at it (good GPA, leadership & experience).

However, I'm aware it's going to be really tough, hence why I want to begin networking with alumni of the school ASAP, but I have no idea how to go ahead with it. Would people even be receptive to an exchange student asking for their time? And, beyond the emailing, how would I go about speaking to them? Skype? Viber? Extremely expensive overseas phone calls?

Any advice is appreciated
