Networking with summer analysts and first year analysts

Since recruiting is moved up to July for a lot of firms, will summer analysts working at a firm this summer (class of 2018) have any power to give a sophomore applicant (class of 2019) an interview? How about first year analysts (class of 2017) who just started their jobs at the firm?

You're a rising junior looking at internships for next year? That process is starting this summer, so the current summer analysts will still be summer analysts. I doubt an intern has any pull at all, especially considering they don't even have their offers yet. First year analysts are still getting settled, and I doubt they have any sway too. I would suggest you talk to someone who is more settled and has been in banking for at least a year.

That being said, if you have pre-existing connections, like people you knew from school, wouldn't hurt reaching out to them, but in terms of new connections, I would go for people who have been around longer.
