New Analyst switching offices after a year

I got hired for my first job out of school at the west coast office and moved out of NYC. I really want to move back and ask about switching back to the ny office. How bad is it to wait a year and ask to transfer back to the east coast office? I know this is done internally a lot, but the specific people I know that have transferred did it after 2-3 years. Whats the best timeline/wait time and way to go about doing this. Thanks.

I'm originally from the west coast and yea, I have family there. I really wanted to work at this company and I have really solid personal connections in the west coast office and they had an opening there (and didn't on the east coast) so it just worked out that way.
