New foolish monkey trying to change

Pleased to meet you all.
I'm a first-year student at a Master in Finance at a target university and I'm currently trying to break into Risk Management (Market Risk in particular, but I don't dislike Credit) . I read some of your posts in the past year and I decided to create an account in the past summer, but I was the kind of guy who doesn't spend too much time on social networks and for that reason I didn't introduce myself at the time.
As for the title, for now I couldn't apply to many Risk Management internships since many companies told me that they want second-year students, yet after doing a honest self-assessment I understood that if I remain as I am only failure will await me. I started to practice more my interview skills with Big Interview and I'm working on my soft skills. I've recently bought the Interview prep package for IB and now I'll try to network more.
So, long story short, I was a bit too naive in the past and I'm currently doing whatever I can to avoid a future which I might regret for the rest of my life (inb4: Risk is a future that you will regret).
Negativity aside, I hope to get along with you.
