New grad out of a job due to visa issue. Advice for looking for things on the off-cycle? HF/IB
I graduated from a target school last year (3.5 math/econ) and was only able to land a FO position at a public pension fund. Did mostly reporting, ad-hoc spreadsheets, and company research for a year. I'm interested in breaking IB and in all honesty just for the optionality factor. Otherwise I'm looking for equity research roles in AM/HF.
I had to quit my job two months ago because I ran out of work authorization in the US. I'm getting my green card via another process and I'm unsure when it will get resolved. I'm in the process of looking for things and I'd rather not have this obstacle hanging over me but that's just the situation currently.
I've been traveling in the US for the past month (can't leave country). Right now I'm staying in the NYC suburbs and just trying to network and submit job applications. There doesn't seem to be many ideal things for me to apply to on the off-cycle. And I don't think I can ever get back into OCR again... Any other suggestions for breaking into IB/AM/HF at this point in time?
Best idea I can come up with so far is to leverage Tinder and find a girl whose dad is an MD at GS.
