New Lenovo GFTP (it's an FLDP)

Lenovo is just starting an FLDP called GFTP (Global Finance Training Program) and only hiring 8 people. #1 PC maker, Rotational program offers rotations in Beijing and Hong Kong and Raleigh NC. Does this sound like a good opportunity?

Yea it'd probably be worth it if you're interested in that area. Though if you aren't particularly interested in that area and have an offer from GE's FMP, I'd go with the FMP. Some notes:

-It says "positions available" in NC, HK, and Beijing, not that international rotations are possible. Clarify that. -Longish rotations comparatively, other programs let you try more different areas. -It's a small class and the posting makes it sound like they really like the idea/want to push ahead with it. -It's new, so you won't have the infrastructure and alumni other programs have.

I can't imagine it being a bad experience. If you like the company (or it's your only opportunity), go for it.

Thank you for the advice D M!

Talked to them, rotations must be in 2 out of 3 locations so there WILL be international. Beijing, Raleigh, Hong Kong. Is that international experience good/worth it? Would it be better to do Beijing/Hong Kong for my two or does international experience not mean THAT much for my resume so I should go for Raleigh.

Here is the posting:

MULTIPLE POSITIONS AVAILABLE

Position Requirements

▪ Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related major from an accredited, top finance and accounting university within 12 months of the program start date (i.e. December 2014/May 2015 graduates) ▪ Academic excellence with financial or quantitative interest/competence ▪ Excellent analytical abilities ▪ Strong communication and interpersonal skills ▪ Demonstrated leadership capabilities in professional, academic, and/or volunteer environments ▪ Passion for technology ▪ Professional maturity, strong work ethic, and the ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing business needs ▪ Bilingual (proficiency in English and one other language) ▪ Ability to work long hours during closing, budget, and other critical business times ▪ Flexibility to relocate globally ▪ Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher preferred

If you want to, go ahead and do both overseas. I don't think it will make a difference as long as you get some international experience. The opportunities will likely be a bit different though so try and find out what they are in each place.

Other than that you have to decide if the program/company interests you and if it's your best opportunity.
