Shows and movies?
I'm looking for some good shows or movies on Netflix or Hulu, I'm open to any suggestions. So far I've watched White Collar and The Office show wise.

Arrested Development highly recommended
Power - Hulu
Backing up Power, also shown on Starz
Black Mirror on Netflix
hard +1
It's a +1, but it's not a hard +1.

Nature documentaries are great to fall asleep to.
riiiiight. "fall asleep to" ;)
What?
A couple of benzos and a 45 minute documentary on bears and I'm out like a light.
House of Cards, and Narcos. Forget the rest.
I sent this to my coworker (in exchange for a list of the best bars in our neighborhood :)
Totally forgot to send this… It will keep you busy on long bus rides and rainy days.

Bojack Horseman -- starts off very slow though. If you can get past the first half of season 1, it's terrific.
Dude I tried and I can't get into it. I was watching Narcos yesterday and I think I put my finger on the reason: It's all just way too inconsequential. I was watching the scene where they're raiding the dude's house and he's hidden in the wall and they're drilling in and it grazez him. I'm liike OHH FUUUCK this is so life and death. Meanwhile, Bojack is having existential angst and fretting over a book deal and my mind just wanders.
If you have Amazon Prime the Playboy docuseries is great
Any of the Netflix original series are great. I'd recommend Narcos, Daredevil, Peaky Blinders, and House of Cards in particular.
I'm half way through El Chapo on NFLX and it's basically Narcos Season 4. It's very good and I recommend it for when you finish Narcos S3.
The Good Place. If you have watched all of the first season, you probably would not have seen it coming.
You gotta check out Spartacus (I think it's still on Netflix. Was produced by Starz I believe)! It's the love child of 300 and HBO lmao
Been meaning to. I love shit about ancient warrior cultures. Have you seen Vikings? How does Spartacus stack up? Marco Polo is also awesome and has some fucking savage moments. Like when they take a bunch of villagers captive and put them in cages, then they start tossing them into these fucking cauldrons and setting them on fire (humans do burn, all the fat), and then loading these giant catapaults with the mangled burbning humans and catapaulting them at the walls of the capital or whatever. It was insane,
Vikings is largely historically accurate too. I started Wiki-ing events as the episodes went along and these motherfuckers really did sail into Paris and hold it captive for like months before getting paid loads of gold to leave.
Been meaning to check out Black Sails too because pirates are nifty.
Dude, I am totally with you! Love those shows too. Soooooo pumped for the next season of Vikings! It's hard to say which one I like more cause they take such different approaches stylistically. Vikings, like you said, is way more realistic and history driven. Spartacus is basically four seasons (I think they got through 4) of 300 meets Gladiator. Over the top action (faces being cut off mid fight, Tarentino blood works lol), CGI, jacked dudes duking it out with ancient weapons and awesome ancient Roman vulgarity lmao Definitely follows the real story of Spartacus, but I'd say much more loosely if compared to a show like Vikings. The first couple seasons of Spartacus have a sprinkle of GoT to them, lots of backstabbing and power grabs. Ultimately, it's tough, I love them all for unique reasons. If you love Vikings and Marco Polo and enjoyed 300 for it's over the top nature, you'll love Spartacus. The one disclaimer I'd give you though before you watch: Main actor that plays Spartacus (I think his name was Andy Witmen or Witfield) passed away from cancer after the first season. So season two takes place chronologically before season one then season three comes back to where 1 left off, just with a new guy playing Spartacus. I have a feeling you'll love it if you try it lol
I watch all that bro. SPOILER: They're about to start the Danish occupation of England on Vikings as well as their medditeranian raids. It's gonna be beautiful.
If you like Vikings you'll like the last kingdom. Also check out the borgias: Rennaisance Italy and a corrupt pope with a corrupt family, very interesting.
Black Sails is awesome af

have you guys seen any good movies recently? I recently saw 9.79* - great documentary about the 1988 Olympics and how Ben Johnson was the scapegoat for everything that went down. Highly recommended.
Suburra on Netflix
I second this. +1
Nothing? For real?
New shows (Originally Posted: 10/15/2016)
Just started watching Designated Survivor and Westworld. Both are kind of mind-blowing. Only a few episodes made of each so far but both are really really good.
Any other new stuff that's exceptionally awesome?
Ozark Better Call Saul The Good Place
Mr. Robot is pretty good. Definitely worth a watch.
Billions is a pretty good one. Kinda like Suits, just that instead of lawyers, it is all about bankers.
Billions is not about bankers. It's about buy side. It's imperative you don't call buy side people sell side.
imperative eh?
Not sure how new, but I just watched the second season of Ballers. Highly recommended.
for NEW shows: Atlanta is the best new show on TV, Luke Cage came out last month on netflix if you're into the superhero stuff, and (like you mentioned) Westworld is awesome.
Luke Cage was actually pretty good, they're doing a good job of connecting the different shows.
WestWorld is the shit. I'm a big time Michael Crichton fan.
If Billions is anything like Suits, I'm def not going to watch it. That show was total garbage.
I started watching Ballers but I lost interest quickly because the acting and writing are not very good imo. Also, this portrayal of NFL players all being crazy partiers, with insane personal lives, is so far from the truth. If you ever watched HBO's Hard Knocks you know that 90% of them are very boring people.
Billions is nothing like suits beyond the corporate environment being the main setting, it is a much better show with much better acting. Paul Giamatti is outstanding on it.
There's a relatively new show called Gomorrah. It's a foreign program (Italian). I haven't watched it yet (been meaning to get to it), but it's supposed to be great. A mix of Breaking Bad, The Wire, and The Sopranos. I think both Netflix and Amazon Prime have it.
If anyone has seen it already and can comment, it would be much appreciated. Here's a WSJ link:
http://www.wsj.com/articles/gomorrah-is-a-bleak-look-at-crime-and-punis…
Have you watched Narcos? It’s the Pablo Escobar story - so good.
I watched Designated Survivor btw. It's actually really good, indeed.
BUMP
Looking for more shows. Especially dramas that are more serial vs episodic
not new but Damages is a good corporate drama but about lawyers. I'm assuming you've seen House of Cards and Homeland. Designated Survivor is great but the new season is getting kind of boring imo.
New season of El Chapo dropped
Suits >>> other tv shows

Already saw American Sniper. Was mildly disappointed. I'm thinking Selma, Whiplash, or Wedding Ringer tonight. Any suggestions?
Suits is garbage bro.
Nope Bob, you know usually I agree with you but Suits is a must Why ur callin it garbage
Not in theatres anymore, but I watched Kill The Messenger last night and it was great. I think it's a must-see.
Saw Whiplash the other day, definitely a solid flick. I watched Boyhood last night and that was pretty good also, but its almost three hours so be prepared. Check out the app Popcorn-Time, you can stream torrented movies, it's pretty magical.
Literally just started using Popcorn Time....quality is a bit on the low side but it works when you feel lazy.
Watch the Grand Budapest Hotel.
Birdman is a solid choice
I got really hooked on Fargo.

A couple of days ago when I saw a picture news by chance showing that fat ass Leonardo Dicaprio all suited up on set of his new movie The Wolf of Wall Street and commented by some funny journalist as “looking sharp looking elite”. I couldn’t help googling this film and found out it was based on the real life story of a man named Jordan Belfort. I continued doing my search about this man and glanced over the words “boiler room” with the movie named after it which I had no clue about. After watching a few clips, then bam, I am in love, so much in love. Later when I saw this movie being quoted in an article as a must watch by Stanford B School, I became more than impressed by my own taste. So here is the complete must watch list from the article, endorsed by different MBA business schools">M7 respectively. I’m gonna take some serious time off to skim them and watch them in order. If you have not watched the most, please gear yourself up with the free orientation so to keep up with the standard of prestige.
This post gave me cancer

Need a movie (Originally Posted: 04/06/2015)
I need a movie with one or all of the following: fast cars, hot women, money, fights, intrigue, etc... something like Bond but not Bond (I've seen every movie too many times to count). It can be related to finance but doesn't have to be, and don't tell me the obvious like WoWS, Margin Call, Trading Places, etc. cuz I've seen all of those.
Mindhunter on Netflix is pretty good
Mean girls.
mean girls is my jam, but I need a movie I haven't seen a million times
All the fast and the furious movies
I've already seen Furious 7 twice (and the other movies much more than that).
The Princess Bride.
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol Talented Mr. Ripley (there's one really nice sports car in there, Gwyneth Paltrow, and definitely intense amount of intrigue)
Hasn't even been a week since Furious 7 came out and you watched it twice? Fucks wrong with you?
I've seen and enjoyed both the Princess Bride and MI:GP. I haven't seen the Talented Mr. Ripley, but will be sure to check it out.
Thanks again, everyone, for the recommendations.
have you considered getting a life?
Italian job
Confidence
Real solid film with a surprisingly good cast (Ed Norton, Paul Giamatti, Dusty Hoffman, and others).
Or give up on movies and start watching the first season of Archer.
Great Gatsby, Catch me if you can, Good Fellas, Blow, Departed, Public Enemies, American Beauty, Other's people money, Rogue trader, Johnny English, Goodwill hunting, Pursuit of Happiness, Donnie Brasco. This should get you going.
Some solid older movies: Fugitive Red Corner Red Dawn Spy Game Layer Cake
Finance Related: Watch the made for TV Barbarians at the Gate via Youtube (still a great movie)
TV Show: Check out the Marco Polo series on Netflix. You got plenty of action and women...
''In time'' with Justin Timberlake. It's actually pretty good.
The Last Kingdom on Netflix is one of the best shows I've ever watched hands down. Middle age England and Viking raids and stuff. Its absolutely incredible once you get past the first 2 or 3 episodes
Mainly focused on Vikings but has a game of thrones feel to it
No one's suggesting Peaky Blinders? Is massive guys
Community is the best ever sitcom imo. Really like the Blacklist as well.
Nobody suggesting Billions? It like a finance version (HF) of Suits (minus the romantic drama).
Also recommend The Sopranos if you want a manly old school serie. It was one of those series I heard people talking about, but never seen. Started watching it two weeks ago and my productivity has never been so low, thanks to this series.
2 Days in Paris (movie) on Amazon if you want to watch some Linklater on crack.
Amazon: Patriot, Amazon: The Wire, Amazon: Man in the High Castle, Netflix: Narcos
Peaky Blinders on Netflix
