Newly PE Associate, advice on career planning needed!

Hey everyone,

I need some suggestions about career planning in PE.

I’m 2 years after undergrad. I was planning to go study at Imperial college London and pursue consulting after.

By coincidence, I started an internship at a boutique PE firm and got an full-time offer as an associate in 2 months.

This is my first full-time job in finance in general and I’m from a non-target liberal art college, financial mathematics major. I really appreciate this opportunity and decided to defer a year of my master degree.

As an international student, I plan to go back to school eventually. I am currently focused on risk management, but is there any certification like CFA or FRM that would be really helpful for my future path? I’ll plan to either stay in PE or switch to consulting.

Many thanks!
