NO argus experience

Hi,

I interviewed recently at a REIT for an Analyst Role. I think that just about every question went well, I have a semi relevant internship and a very strong financial background including some decent modeling experience from my current position. However I had to answer the Argus experience question with a no. Is this a deal breaker? How much Argus experience do you really need for an entry level role/how much more experience can my competition have if they only did a summer internship prior?

With your level of experience and your potetial employer's willingness to at least interview you in the first place, I would say no, it's probably not a deal breaker.

Your competition may have exposure to Argus, but probably not enough to make a significant difference in the recruiting process.

I recommend getting the trial version of Argus and play with it, this will hopefully demonstrate awareness in your lack of Argus exp and a willingness to learn the software. You seem like you're familiar enough with CRE finance, so you might pick it up quickly. Focus on - setting up properties, entering expenses (skip Misc Revenues for now), entering rent rolls, and learn the MLA functions.
