Nomura Summer Analyst

Has anyone interviewed or taken part in Nomura's Global Markets Summer Analyst position? I have an interview coming up and haven't been able to find much info through searching. What's expected, what's the culture? Thanks for any advice!

Yes, I took part in a previous summer analyst stint at Nomura for S&T (which is global markets). The questions will be more behavioral/fit than technical, you might have to pitch a stock for example but not much more than that on the tech side. You will probably have an interview with three people back to back in one sitting.

In terms of culture, 95% of the employees havent been there for more than 1.5 years so you will find people from all the BB's kind of working together to establish a new culture here in the US (Nomura got Lehmans asian and European operations so they are stronger in the rest of the world and just started last year building up its US operations with 2,000 employees hired). Because of this there is sort of an entrepreneurial feel in terms of the vp's and md's are there because they want to build up their own groups and overall work in a place that is a bit higher spirited and upcoming.

Its not quite a BB but its definitely a large bank worldwide, has a long way to go in the US though... the people there seem to be pretty upbeat about what they have done already and what they plan to do in the next couple of years... definitely an interesting place to work, I loved all of the people there, very nice overall. Also, you get to work with higher up people because they hired lots of md/vp level and are now just starting to recruit from colleges (last year was first SA class and FT hire for analysts officially). This can be extremely beneficial in terms of what you will learn about the desks/markets you are in during the SA (they rotate you through 3 desks over the course of 10 weeks, 1 of which is training at the beginning).

PM me with any questions, be happy to answer them.
