Non-Finance Recruiting: Where the hell do I even start??
After spending far too much time recruiting for roles in finance across IB, PE, HF, VC, etc. I've become way more familiar with these processes than I care to be. I've learned that most of these jobs hire in pretty similar ways, and following a general formula through networking and technical prep, in addition to a few fool-proof behavioral answers will help maximize my chances of getting any of these jobs.
Issue is, now that I'm looking to leave this industry and go into tech / corp dev, I don't even know where to begin. I'm sure there's some equivalent to this formula in these industries as well (albeit less mechanical and game-like than the ridiculous finance networking garbage everyone has to go through) - I just have no idea what this might be. Is networking even a thing in tech? Do they actually read applications on job portals and get back to you with updates on your application? Are designated recruiters responsible for hiring, as opposed to random Associates?
Would be great to hear tips from anyone who's gone through a transition here to understand how you found your current role and your experience with the hiring process.
