Non-GS/MS/Q/JPM BB tech group placement for SF PE?

Hey guys, I'll be heading off to one of the tier-2 BB tech groups (think CS/BAML/Citi) for this summer's internship, and was wondering what the placements typically look like for these banks. My interest in the tech industry is the reason I am going to SF in the first place so I'm really aiming for West Coast PE shops. Thanks so much in advance!

Complete intern and obtain offer from your SA bank >> Leverage offer for FT in GS/MS/JPM/Q >> Complete FT stint of 2 years >> Move to SF PE

That's obviously an option I'm considering, but given the FT recruiting environment nowadays, I'm also trying to look into the prospect of recruiting for PE in one of those banks. Any insights? Btw great respect for quattrone haha

Obviously, you'd have to have some deal exp in tech and a strong knowledge of the technology sector to move into PE. From what I've seen, only GS/MS/Q develop that kind of know-how. JPM is exposed to a breadth of deals, hence you would cover most of the knowledge required. But I haven't seen many guys in SF tech PE from JPM relative to the other three. Hope that answers your question, or I misunderstood what you meant. If you meant recruiting straight from undergrad, that's a tough sell - unless you've interned at one of the PE shops, which is very much possible.
