Non-target (Accounting & Finance major) looking for advice

Longtime WSO reader, first-time poster. I am currently a junior at a non-target school in upstate New York. Accounting/finance double major w/ history minor. 3.97 GPA and a data analysis internship at a commercial bank ( excel work 40 hrs a week-literally all I could find around here). Also a varsity athlete. My eventual goal is to somehow make my way into investment banking. Like most non-targets, the alumni network is pretty crap, and my location sucks. Still, I'm trying to network like crazy and deal with what I've got. Due to the fact I'm already a junior with no relevant experience, my plan right now is to try to get a somewhat relevant intern position this summer, aim for a 700+ GMAT score, and apply to an MSF program. Question is: what firms would be most willing to take a chance on a non-target with good stats? Second: If I can't get a relevant summer gig would an F-500 corp fin gig be worth pursuing? Any other tips are welcome too.
