Non-Target Freshman finally posting
Hey everyone, I've been lurking on here for sometime now but don't post very often at all. I'm a freshman at at a non-target school in Boston looking to eventually get into IBD. I've completed internships at a local muni bond brokerage and also another in the fixed income division at a large mutual fund. I've learned a great deal about the industry from these boards and probably wouldn't know much about investment banking without them.
I have sometime between my classes this upcoming fall semester and am looking to get an off-cycle internship at a boutique to better position myself to get a summer analyst position down the road. Does anyone know when it would be a good time to begin cold- calling/e-mailing some boutique firms? I feel like beginning now for a position in September is a little early, but then again I could be wrong.
Thanks!
Have you considered transferring to a target?
work your ass off and transfer to a target...plenty of targets around Boston. You can't compare to the on campus recruiting on targets there are so many more opportunities
not that the above guys are wrong (assuming you can afford it), but to answer your actual question - start now. sooner is always better.
