Non-Target Junior Questions for the Future
I am currently a junior finance and economics major who attends a non-target school on the east coast, with a GPA of 3.85 and a major GPA of 3.9. While my school sends a few students a year to work on wall street or other bb, the recruiting is generally for more back office jobs (operations, etc). I have been applying to numerous positions, however I recently changed my major when I realized I wanted to go into finance. Therefore I have a few questions on what I should do in the future:
First: Should I take the GMAT and put that score on my resume when I apply for full-time positions. I can get a score of above 700, and I did not do as well on the SATs as I had hoped to in high school, due to the fact that I had no plan on attending a top target school because I switched my major this year when I realized what I wanted to do with my life.
2nd Question: As a senior, if I were to get offers in operations, should I work for a few years and then go get my MBA assuming I can get a score above 700 on the GMAT or should I attend a masters program such as the Duke Fuqua MMS, UVA Masters in Commerce or Villanova's MS in Finance. My ultimate goal is to work for a bb or boutique bank in New York, since that is where I am originally from.
Thanks for the help.
