Non target to S&T advice
Hello everyone,
I am a rising freshman at a non-target big 10 school (chose because of merit aid) and I am looking for some advice on breaking into sales and trading in the future. Specifically, I am interested in trading commodity derivatives and algo trading. Do you have any advice on getting internships, interviews, majors/minors, etc? I'm thinking about studying finance and econ with a minor in comp sci. I have been trading ETF's and options for about a month now, and I made around 20% on my small investment and started an investment blog. I also cold-called/emailed around 200 companies near the school looking for internships and found one at a fintech startup (really interesting) over the summer remotely. Is there something else I could be doing to maximize my chances?
Any advice helps, thanks a lot.
Make sure you secure a finance internship your freshman to sophomore summer. At least get something local where you could use on your resume to leverage a Junior internship at a bigger bank. Just keep on networking and if you’re a minority apply to SEO.
