They don't get as "good" jobs in general. If you don't get a top IB offer that's one thing, but to me, there is no excuse if you don't get any internship offer (other than extreme circumstances like a family emergency).

You need to network.

I was in a similar situation... I fucked around in college hard.

Ultimately I was able to land a Credit Analyst spot at a decent regional bank and moved on from there. You better believe I prepped for that interview like no other.... absolutely crushed it.

You’ll find something decent if you’re motivated enough. Get after it

You lie on your resume, fake a GPA and put some half assed fake internships in man.

Be real homie, if your this big of a failure you need to fake the next couple of steps. To moral for this? than fuck off and deal with being unemployed. I had a bad gpa in undergrad, faked some numbers and landed a sick job I have right now. Do the same yourself, and get yourself to a point where you don't have to be dishonest to move forward.

0 is a lonely number, he turns everyone he multiplies into himself, time to tell yourself you're a fucking 4.

How did you do this? I've worked for a small bank and a F500 and neither asked for my transcripts -- but at bigger banks or firms I feel like it's more vetted. I guess you could make up an internship but if they call the company then you're fucked

Don't beat yourself up on this, Eric. Some people like taking the long way home. Who the fuck knows?

What is your goal? The solution steps vary widely depending on where you want to be. Breaking into IB vs. AM vs. PE vs. RE is very different. I was in your situation years ago, and I networked, got a dozen significant letters after my name, and tried to show that I was always the smartest person in the room to break into AM.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

Is AM as hard as IB to break into from non-traditional backgrounds? How does AM compare to RE?

Don't beat yourself up on this, Eric. Some people like taking the long way home. Who the fuck knows?
