Non-Tech SF Groups: Exit opps, prestige, general thoughts?

Haven't seen a lot of threads on non-tech groups in SF though SF usually are the BBs' second biggest offices in the US (except maybe chicago). e.g. GS WRA (west regional advisory), MS SF sponsors, JPM HC etc.

What do they look like with regards to general prestige, exit opps into PE/HF, and general culture/thoughts?

As far as exits go, you will be in the running for all the major buyside / Corp dev exits on the West Coast. It gets a little trickier when you are gunning for NYC jobs, as there's just a plethora of kids with an identical skill set immediately available in New York. It's certainly more than doable, you're just at a slight disadvantage, but I've seen it done several times. I would be comfortable with the idea that the path of least resistance will likely lead to your next job being on the West Coast as well though, if I were you.

You'll get great experience and I wouldn't discount it at all relative to being in an NYC office. Depending on group size, you may even find it more beneficial to your career (BB deals, but smaller teams leading to greater responsibility at the analyst level).
