Non traditional applicant

I am looking for some help.

I come from a non traditional background, double major in Biology and History. Was a med school hopeful and did well on the MCATs, but after hours of shadowing found the practice to be bleak and unsatisfying (personal opinion.) I have always been interested in finance, especially m&a of biotech firms, pharm research et al.

Background:
-I have experience in biotech related research, with two hopeful publications by the end of 2015.
-Created a marketplace for Los Angeles based artists to sell limited edition prints. Sold website in 2014.
-Extensive non profit work
-Over 4 years of SMB experience (owned by my parents) I was officially listed as an employee and made sweeping efforts leading to an interview by Los Angeles Times. Do I list this experience? Or will family relation be an issue?
-Countless hours shadowing various surgeons.

Education (Strong GPA)
-California State University of Long Beach
B.A. History
B.S. Biology

Questions:
-How do I restructure my CV for finance related positions?
-I applied to various healthcare related positions at IBs in New York but live in Los Angeles, what is the likelihood of getting a follow-up?
-How do I even get my foot in the door? I really want this for myself, and will take all suggestions into consideration. Don't be nice. I like criticism.
