Non-Traditional Break In Advice

Hey everyone,

I wanted to hear this community’s thoughts about my career progression thus far and see if I’d have a solid chance to make it into an IB role. I graduated a couple years ago from a large public university (often regarded on here as non-target or semi-target, despite its very high ranking) with an engineering degree and a minor in a different engineering discipline. I’ve worked for a total of 3 energy companies so far in my career, all of which are Fortune 500 companies - one of which being a household name that’s easily recognizable.

My question to this group - I’d like to reroute my career into the world of finance, do you all think that based on resume alone I’d have a chance to land an IB Analyst role? Or should I look hard at the Ivy League / Ivy Lite MBA route? If I do have a chance in as is, do you think the jump from engineer to IB Analyst is worth it? As a reference my current income is low 100’s. 5 years from now I’d expect to make mid 100’s.
