As much as I want to avoid a major conflict, NK is a little rotten child that could be utterly crushed in a matter of weeks and is yet a constant irritation to everybody. It's an embarrassment of a government and it's about time someone puts them in their place.

China doesnt have to go to war, they can just dump i dont even know how much treasuries in the market...

That would only hurt them and their butt buddies, Russia. There currency would appreciate relative to the dollar.

No war is going to happen. North Korea is trying to gain leverage for better trade terms. China is not going to back them, in fact, they are as sick of them as the rest of us.

We (the USA and South Korea) would 100% destroy and liberate North Korea. The problem is Seoul would suffer serious damage. Fighting wars for the USA is always nice because nothing of ours gets destroyed. People in South Korea would suffer a lot. It would also raise tensions with China.

To all the "China could just sell treasuries" comments, get real. China is just as much tied to the USA as we are to them. China is not going to burn us and we are not going to burn China. This isn't high school or a dick measuring competition. China wants no bumps or issues. Pissing their largest customer and business partner off would cause dire consequences for their economy. The people are already getting testy because of food price increases. Just think of how many unemployed there would be if we pulled out. Communism in China is excepted as long as the people are taken care of. The second they are poor, starving and miserable is the second another Tienanmen Square happens.

Good post. I always laugh at people who say that we are being dominated by the Chinese. In fact, its the other way around. We are a source of 33% of all income in the country. We are their sole consumer of electronics, clothing and cheap consumer goods. We can easily buy that stuff from India and other poor countries.
