Northeast Republicans - Who Are You Voting For in November?

We know that voting patterns differ greatly across the country.  Republicans from the northeast do not always share the same views are republicans from the south or midwest. I live in the northeast and my colleagues have been mostly Republicans.  I reached out to some of my former colleagues to ask them if they plan to vote for the current POTUS in November.  The response was mixed.   Here are some of the paraphrased replies

  1. Yes I am...(he is concerned about socialism and George Soros)

  2. Yes, (he listed several conservative policy concerns/issues including socialism and one I had never even heard of called the 1619 project)

  3. No with no explanation

  4. Probably not. (He just wanted the lunacy to end)

  5. No - Anybody but Trump this time

The people I reached out to are former colleagues and people I consider to be friends.  Their views will not change our relationship.  I have always been the minority regarding political views at the office.  I do not think it is a good idea for people to discuss politics at the office but in my situations, we had quite a bit of comradery and were open with each other.

I'm going to vote for Trump. He is not my first choice and was not in my first choice in 2016 either. I don't like the progressive (actually regressive) wave that has taken over the dem party, the republicans have their own regressive ideas, but on other policies I align more with them.

Didn't vote for Trump last time. He has been worse than I expected. I will vote for him this year.

Why? I truly think the revolution is upon us: https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/we-need-a-2nd-enlightenment-age#…

We are definitely in a culture war right now. All these ideas floating around, a lot of people who were on the fringes have become very popular, that's both good and bad. Some institutions have fully embraced "woke ideals" others are fighting against it and it's further dividing the nation. Don't know where this is headed, but an interesting time to be alive

Funny. Cuz I'm supporting Biden for the same reason.

Trump's shamless supporting of QAnon and silent condoning of far right groups seems to have just caused 2 sides constantly at odds of each other and actually gave a bigger reason for the "woke" to exist.

See for yourself. Under Trump, the "woke" has become even more vocal and more powerful than ever. All the while Trump has been ignoring the growth of far right groups, what I call the conservative "woke", all because they "like him".

You might be right, I honestly don't know. The fact that something like QAnon even exists is absolutely absurd.

But I feel that the Democrats didn't learn what I view as a key lesson of 2016 . . . people don't like all this woke shit at all. Maybe if Trump wins again they will finally learn.

I would’ve voted for Bloomberg. He’s out, so Trump it is.

I think we we all know that many politicians (dems and repubs) have significant character flaws.  For those of you voting for Trump, do you place a low priority on character?  Do you just assume that Biden's character is just as bad as that of Trump.  Or, are you just voting based on who would be better for you financially?

I'm voting for Biden bc I don't want Trumpism to be the future of the Republican party and because I don't like Trump's handling of COVID, foreign relations, and science denial. I'll be voting pretty much all Republican downballot though, as most Republicans running in my area are pretty rational

I’m a fun guy. Obviously I love the game of basketball. I mean there’s more questions you have to ask me in order for me to tell you about myself. I'm not just gonna give you a whole spill... I mean, I don't even know where you're sitting at

Well I am at the moment, although these past few years have me consider switching parties. The only reason I'm voting Republican downballot is because the local politicians are pretty moderate, in fact a lot of hard core Trumpers hate them. I think what will determine my party status in the future is whether Republicans decide to follow Tucker Carlson types or Mitt Romney types, and unfortunately the former seems more realistic

It has been a long time since I have been a Republican.  My neighbor switched from the republican party to the democratic party a couple of years ago. In my area, local republican politics really has not changed all that much over time  Most of them favor smaller government and lower taxes.  There are some republicans here who are actively campaigning for the POTUS.  There is one guy who is active in local Republican politics who has a Trump sign on his lawn.  I had a Biden sign on my lawn for a while until someone stole it.

Separately, it is looking more likely that we are going to get to see the Clippers play the Lakers. I think this would be a great series and get great ratings.
