Not including University Name in Cold Email

Hello,

I posted a much longer discussion on the Job forum, but I wanted to bring this up here in a very quick format:
https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/non-target…

I'm an undergrad with a 4.0 GPA and Corporate Development and Corporate Finance experience. I'm afraid when I cold email that people will look over me when they see my university name. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to not include my university name and use the space to show them my relevant IB experience and projects instead.

What about using LinkedIn to connect rather than cold-emailing (for specific cases)? I could attach my resume to my LinkedIn and potential connections will be routed to my home page with my resume.

Was wondering anyone's input on how to turn heads and get people to open up my cold-emails from a non-target.

Thanks!

I find more success in cold messaging on LinkedIn rather than email. Email is supposed to be more professional but at least on LinkedIn they can see what you look like and there is more information on a LinkedIn. On LinkedIn though, they will see your school anyways but try using LinkedIn if your profile is updated and all that stuff

I don't think I would say this in a cold-email (if that's what you were getting at) but something I would say if my university is brought up.

I hope I understood your comments right - thanks for the help and tell me if I misunderstood.
