Not Listing Unrelated Work Experience on Resume
Hey guys,
I worked in FP&A out of college, left after a year due to workplace environment/COVID (I lived with high risk people and workplace was not willing to let me work remote).
I took a job in the government completely unrelated to finance and decided to not pursue training further due to my interest in the job waning.
I'm applying to new jobs now, and trying to work again in FP&A.
My friend who owns his own company says I can list that I worked as a Operations/FPA analyst on my resume for the length of the government job because I was essentially doing part time work for his company (and receiving free resources/education as a result) after my first FP&A job.
He also said that he's willing to verify with employers/background check people if they call.
I plan to leave the government job experience off my resume.
Question: Will my work for the government show up on a background check with future employers? How deep are future employers going to look?
