Not much information online about Corporate Banking. Why? Is this field respected at all?

I work as an analyst within Corporate Banking of a major US Bank. I get to spread and analyze mid size to very large companies, governments, etc for pretty much every industry. I am not sure that I want to stay in Corporate Banking and become Credit Manager or not.

How are exit opportunities in this field? Do you guys think it is realistic to say that there is a good chance I could move into Finance of a company that I analyze and look at? Is Corporate Banking even respected? Would you guys say Audit is much more respected? I just need opinions on this field from people that know about it since the net does not really say a whole lot about it.

Also, would this experience be looked at as good experience when applying for a great MBA program for example?

I can only share my experience- I'm at my 2nd BB (in 7 years) working in finance/BO - think product control with a little FP&A to it. I've been looking for a few months for a new job, trying to get to the buyside and more of a MO role that works a little closer to the business/revenue side of things. I have alot of knowledge and exposure to products but its been a tough go trying to get where I want to be. I've been asked a number of times by recruiters if I'm interested in interviewing for a similar role to my current one just at another bank, but that's not what I'm looking for...
